Meadowbrook Bioblitz
September 19-20, 2008


A Bioblitz is a 24 hour inventory of all living organisms in a given area. Teams of scientists, volunteers and community members will seek out and identify as many plants and animals as possible.

Friends of Hempstead Plains is participating in this County Legislature-sponsored Bioblitz to find out what is living in the undeveloped areas along the Meadowbrook Parkway, from the Hempstead Plains south to Merrick Rd.

If you enjoy nature and would like to –participate in this great research project, register today! No expertise is needed. Details are at:

1. Visit the website: meadowbrookbioblitz.org, and fill out the registration information.
2. Attend the Orientation on Friday evening, Sept. 19 at 6:00 PM at Hofstra University.
3. Arrive at your site at the time you selected and join the fun.
